St. Agnes Breast Center was designed to coordinate and consolidate the full continuum of services needed to promote breast health for the women of Lafayette and surrounding parishes of Acadiana. The Breast Center was designed for convenience and efficiency with women’s health needs in mind. Our services include:
Full-field direct acquisition digital mammography
Screening and Diagnostic Mammography
Breast ultrasound
Bone Density
Stereotactic and Fine Needle Aspiration
Risk assessment
Educational literature
The staff consists of accredited mammography and ultrasound technologists, and experienced admit and scheduling registrars. The staff is mature, experienced, compassionate and competent and the care delivered is based upon the individual needs of each patient.

This year, approximately 182,800 women in the United States will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. Studies show that up to 20 percent of breast cancer could be detected earlier.
St. Agnes was the first Breast Center to offer the full-field direct acquisition digital mammography unit in Acadiana. St. Agnes also provides the new ImageChecker Computer Aided Detection (CAD) system for use in breast cancer screening to assist radiologists in minimizing false negative readings during mammograms.

This new technology allows St. Agnes Breast Center, located on the Lourdes campus, to confidently identify abnormalities during mammogram screening analyses and significantly increase the detection rate of invasive cancers. The ImageChecker from R2 Technology CAD system is approved by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) for use in breast cancer screening. ________________________________________________________________________
